Since our founder John Schnatter made the very first Papa John’s pizza, we have always retained his complete dedication to the belief that better ingredients make a better pizza. When it comes to supporting our franchise business partners, we hold the very same belief.

As a high school senior working at a local pizza store in Indiana, Papa John’s founder John Schnatter often challenged other staff members to see who could make the best pizza.
This fascination with delivering the best possible product first occupied his thoughts whilst he worked cleaning plates in the business, a job which he believes taught him far more than washing up skills.
He said: “I used to take mental note of the pizzas that went out, and then see what came back into the kitchen on people’s plates – and it soon became obvious that there were certain things that the majority of pizza lovers liked and disliked.
